Target is Coming to Quincy!

Prediction: After Doyle Manufacturing finishes moving production and 92 good paying manufacturing jobs to Missouri (or getting the hell out of our business unfriendly state, depending on how you want to look at it) while local "leaders" do nothing, the former Doyle site in Quincy will be used to build a Target. Out of town engineering and construction firms will do most of the work on the project. Hundreds of people will apply for all the new barely minimum wage jobs. The traditional media will make a big happy deal of it, praising Target, Spring, Bevelheimer, and I-72 for making it possible. The grand opening will be greeted with even more fanfare and women all over Adams County will wet themselves with excitement.

Within nine months, K Mart will close, and Shopko within two years. While Quincy was busy trying to get itself into bed with Target, another Quincy manufacturer will announce plans to move out of state.

Along with several other gems, Mentesti said this on WGEM:

"While their future will not be with us right here in Quincy on East Broadway, its what somebody said today, it's a victory for the tri-states," he said.

The man is golden.

Yes, Dave, it is a moral victory for the tri-states. They could have moved to Kentucky! Removing tongue from cheek now.

Does any organization from anywhere else (besides Quincy) in the tri-states pay Mentesti's $100K-plus salary? He'd better start working for the people paying his bills.
